Nonbinary Musician G Flip Celebrates Queer Sex in ‘Scream’ Video

Already a force in their native Australia, nonbinary drummer turned solo artist G Flip has just released the video for “Scream,” which they say is their “horniest song to date.” And the video for the song that features the music sensation UPSAHL, is evidence of the queer heat G Flip is putting out in the world.
“There’s no hiding the fact that this song is about sex,” G Flip says about the kinetic song and video that features various couples in various stages of foreplay or after play.
While the song is a fun and sexy homage to good old-fashioned getting-it-on, it’s also more than that for G Flip, for whom queer sexual desire depicted in the song and video is personal.
“Growing up only seeing heterosexual intimacy and sex scenes made me wonder what was wrong with me because I could never connect to that singular idea of how sex was presented,” they tell The Advocate. “Looking back on my life I know that by seeing queer sex narratives in the media I could have avoided so much confusion and self-hate.”
By being transparent about queer sexuality, G Flip hopes to open a door for others.
“Depicting queer sexual agency is essential for understanding connections outside of the heteronormative binary, not just for our LGBT+ community but for society as a whole,” they say. “My music and my visuals are a representation of what I wish I had when I was a very confused kid struggling with gender and sexual identity. The basis of the G Flip project is to be able to be that for someone else.”
G Flip has collaborated with other music luminaries on their recent singles including “Waiting Game” featuring renforshort and “Queen” featuring Mxmtoon. The latter became the unofficial anthem of Sydney’s Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, according to press materials.
