Trump Mob Chases Lindsey Graham From Airport Terminal: ‘Traitor!’
Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Republican senator who was an ardent critic of Donald Trump until the latter was elected president, was rushed away from an angry pro-Trump mob Friday, according to a video tweeted by Politico reporter Daniel Lippman.
The incident occurred at Washington, D.C.’s Reagan International Airport, according to Lippman. Trump supporters heckled and screamed at Graham, who is not visible in the video. “Traitor!” and “Liar!” are screamed by the increasingly angry mob.
Police officers are visible and appear to be guarding the senator. Someone is heard assuring someone else they will not touch the politician, though the agitated crowd appears to advance on the officers. Suddenly, the officers start moving away from the terminal, ostensibly with Graham, as the crowd repeatedly shouts, “Traitor!”
A woman wearing an “I Love Trump” shirt (with QAnon’s symbol emblazoned on the back), says, “One day he will not be able to walk down the street; it is today.”
A video shared from the account of DC Homos clearly shows Graham being escorted through the airport while he’s peppered with insults from furious Trump supporters.
Graham likely sparked the seditionists’ ire by speaking out against Trump in the days following Wednesday’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, where Trump supporters stormed the building in an attempt to disrupt the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential victory. Lawmakers, including Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, were evacuated, the building was trashed, and five people died as a result of the melee. Efforts are now on to remove Trump from the presidency before his term ends at 12:01 p.m. on January 20.
Graham told reporters that Trump’s “actions were the problem” but also also nonsensically blamed Democrats, saying they never accepted Trump’s win. After warning in 2016 that Trump would destroy the GOP if he was their presidential nominee, Graham has become one of the impeached, disgraced president’s most ardent defenders. Even as concern grows over what Trump could do in his last weeks in office, Graham has vowed to not support impeachment and removal of the dangerous cult leader.
