Parliament House, Iconic Orlando Gay Bar, Shutting Its Doors

Parliament House, the Iconic Orlando nightclub that has been serving central Florida’s LGBTQ+ population for 45 years, is closing, though the owners say it’s not a permanent closure.
According to officials in a Facebook post made on Wednesday, they tried to get the money for much needed renovations, but they sadly couldn’t reach their goal.
“We have to announce that our home at its current location will be closing Monday, November 2, 2020,” the Facebook post says. “We put up a good fight over the last 11 months to secure financing and renovate our existing property. Unfortunately, that fight ended today with no deal.”

The bar has been at its home on Orange Blossom Trail for 45 years, and they recalled memories both good and bad. “Our community showed up in thousands to celebrate marriage equality in the United States. We gathered to mourn the loss of our friends at Pulse Nightclub. We came out for countless concerts, pageants, plays, musicals and events,” the owners said.
But despite the loss of this venue, this allegedly isn’t the end for Parliament House. The owners said they plan to reopen at a new location.
“In the coming weeks, we’ll reveal our plans for the immediate future. Although we are sad for the loss, we are even more excited for our future! Once you hear what we have planned, we think you’ll be just as excited.”
Bars and nightclubs reopened in Orlando last month after shuttering because of COVID-19.
