Panti Bliss and her amazing speech on homophobia

Over the weekend, an Irish drag queen called Panti Bliss (Rory O’Neill) made a very passionate speech about homophobia, just after a play finished at the Abbey theater in Ireland.

According to an Irish publication called The Journal, the debate itself arose from a TV network’s retraction of comments that she made on the air earlier in the week about what constitutes homophobia.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the TV network also paid off the Catholic lobby group that Panti called homophobic while on their station.

This is a speech that Panti made during the February 1st 2014 debate and during it, she defends her statements, and then amazingly and eloquently states why she believes certain actions and intentions can be considered homophobic, as well as the actual real-life impact  of homophobia (including internalized homophobia) on gay people.

Check out the incredible speech.
