Lizzo’s new video is the Easter miracle we all so desperately needed

It’s about damn time for a new Lizzo video.

Lizzo rolled back the stone, threw on some sequins and did exactly what it is that Lizzo does best for her new video, “About Damn Time”.

It turns out that since we last saw her, Lizzo has been feeling the pressure. So she did what any sensible person would, and checked out her local ‘stressed and sexy support group’.

From there on out, it’s all light-up floors and gravity-defying splits as Lizzo struts in her “Balenciussys” (we’ll allow it) through the world’s most disco-ready office building.

There’s ass-shaking. There’s a flute section. There’s Lizzo walking on water. There’s also the song itself which… OK, it’s not exactly reinventing the wheel, but it’s a marked step up from “Rumors”.

The lyrics are cute – prepare to see “It’s bad bitch o’clock, it’s thick-thirty” under every single basic Instagay’s brunch selfie from now until the sun explodes – and the chorus will certainly sound lovely backing a Boots advert this summer.

After the video dropped, fans were quick to lavish praise on Lizzo: “Certified bop to end all bops”, wrote one fan. “Already obsessed,” added another. “SHE REALLY PUT HER WHOLE LIZUSSY INTO THIS,” claimed a third.

In a new interview with Zane Lowe, Lizzo explained the inspirations behind the song

“‘About Damn Time’ can lead into so many conversations,” she told Lowe.

“It’s about damn time I feel better, it’s about damn time we get out this pandemic. It’s about damn time we to get the first Black female Supreme Court Justice.

“There’s so many things. It’s about damn time we popped the champagne. It’s about damn time the tequila got here.”

“About Damn Time” will be followed by Lizzo’s fourth album, Special. She’ll perform the song this weekend on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

The singer recently launched her own line of shapewear, Yitty.
