Drag Race Stars Lip-Synch to ‘The Prom’ in Night of a Thousand Meryls

Eleven drag queens — nearly all from RuPaul’s Drag Race — are going to The Prom.
Valentina, Manila Luzon, Monique Heart, Kim Chi, Jinkx Monsoon, Willam, Vanessa “Vanjie” Mateo, and more lip-synch to “It’s Not About Me” in a new music video.
The song was sung by Meryl Streep in Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix musical about a troupe of Broadway stars who descend on small-town Indiana in order to advocate for a lesbian teen’s right to attend a school dance with her girlfriend.
The performance has been dubbed the “Night of 1,000 Meryls,” a reference to gatherings of fans who dress up as various gay icons, including, most famously, Stevie Nicks. Directed by Thom Kerr and set at the famed drag restaurant Hamburger Mary’s, the Meryl homage also features Dani Kay, Big Dee, and Delta Work.
In addition to Streep’s character in The Prom, the Broadway diva Dee Dee Allen, “Night of 1000 Meryls” features queens dressed as the actress’s characters in The Devil Wears Prada, Doubt, Death Becomes Her, and more.
