ABBA have announced that they’re releasing their first new album in more than 40 years, and fans are absolutely losing it.

The album, titled Voyage, will be released on 5 November and will be accompanied by a “hologram” concert in London, where avatars of the band as their younger selves will perform their hits.

ABBA announced their new music in a live-streamed event on YouTube, which saw fans from all across the world reflecting on their lifelong love of the group’s music.

Later in the livestream, the band unveiled the lead single from their new album Voyage. The song, titled “I Still Have Faith In You”, is a classic, anthemic track that sees ABBA pick up where they left off 40 years ago.

ABBA started off with two songs – but they didn’t stop there

Afterwards, ABBA members Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson joined presenter Zoe Ball in a London studio to discuss their return to the spotlight.

There, they revealed that ABBA got back together in 2018, originally to record two new songs. “I Still Have Faith In You” was the first track they recorded together.

But they didn’t stop there – ABBA went on to record an entire album of new material, they revealed.

Elsewhere in the livestream, Ulvaeus and Andersson explained the technicalities of their new hologram concert, which will be broadcast in London.

To create the concert, the four original ABBA members spent weeks recording music. Later, they were transformed into younger versions of themselves to transport concert-goers back to their heyday.

They also opened up about “I Still Have Faith In You”, explaining that the song is about the enduring friendships between the group’s four original members.

Ulvaeus and Andersson said the group’s four members continue to have “total loyalty” to each other to this day.

The announcement quickly sent ABBA fans into a tailspin, with many rushing to Twitter to share their joy at the group releasing new music.

ABBA’s new album Voyage will be released just shy of 40 years since their last record The Visitors, which was released in November 1981.

The group famously went their separate ways after releasing that album after the two marriages that tied ABBA together ended in divorce.

While the band hasn’t released new music in 40 years, their songs have continued to dominate cultural conversation. ABBA is regarded today as one of the greatest pop artists of all time.

In recent years, they attracted younger fans with the two musical films Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.
